I photographed several lotus flowers for a concept engagement shoot last week (see my last post). After searching high and low, I finally located a flower distributor who obtained this unique flower for me.
Also known as water lillies, they don’t always open. If they do, they have a tendency to open and close. Because of this, they are rarely used in floral arrangements. It was suggested that I pour wax into the center to keep the petals open. I couldn’t bear the thought of such sacrilege! So, I photographed them in their natural state over the course of several days.
For Buddhists, the purple lotus symbolizes spirituality and mysticism. I was certainly captivated by it.
